My mums' boyfriend..

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Has just split up with her. They've been together for months, and where together for years a couple of years ago.
I really don't know what to say to her  She's upset but is trying to hide it, I can tell.
So, any advice? Thanks.

No, she'll tell me everything as soon as she gets back from the shop. She'll tell me everything, start crying, and then shout at me. I don't get on with my mum at all... I think I might just not say anything to her. This has happened before with the same guy.
She doesn't have much luck with guys... and until she finds another she'll be all depressed and angry. Ohhh god :-( bring on the bad months.

B-A correct me if I'm wrong but you dont have a perfect relationship with your mum? If this is the case, let her know that you are there for her but if she isnt happy with you trying to help, just give her a bit of space. I'm sure in time she will realise that you are only trying to help her.

Hope you are both ok. xxx

ah you replyed as I was posting. apologies

Maybe you could suggest you two watch a movie, a short game of cards or something together?

Sometimes it's not words that's most comforting but the company. I think it might also help the relationship between you and her. Often, adults find it hard to talk as well. :o

I have my reasons. And, I can hate who I like. It's my life, I shall do with it what I wish.

No, I'm not. I hate my mum, for justifiable reasons but I DO NOT need to tell you those. And I shant.
Think what you will, as I said before, it's my life. I've TRIED to be nice to her, it doesn't work. It isn't worth my time, I've got bigger things to worry about. And, my dad pays for most things for me actually.

Tbh I dont think some of these posts are helping B-A.

My advice would be that if you feel this strongly against her, I'd give her some space. There is no point burning even more bridges by trying to give her help if you either know or can take a good chance that you two will fall out.

Of course I have never been in your situation B-A and totally understand if you think otherwise to what I say. Just thought I'd add my thoughts. :) Hope everything is ok with you as I know you've had a rough time lately xxx

    To be honest,
you've got no ground to stand on. You don't live here, you don't know me or my mum so you have no idea what happens. We don't get on and it works better for us both when I am either not here, or in another room.

geneve, after reading most of B-A's posts, I'd say she is quite mature for her age. Sometimes though, when feelings are so strong you cant see the point in trying. I dunno if its a teenager thing (being one myself currently) but I know it happens. She is having a rough time just now, and I think she needs some support from people on here, as her family arent always there for her.

With time and distance, B-A's relationship with her mother may improve. Maturity doesn't really come into it.

when you believe someone greatly dislikes you, and you dislike them, it may be very difficult for people to mend broken relationships like that.

I don't hate her out of choice! Just leave it now, I'm not in a good mood and I don't want to say something to you that'll get me banned or something.

Geneve stop stirring. You do not know the situation therefore have no right to preach about forgiving. its up to B-A what she does and *if* she forgives her.

    for fuck sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE MY MUM FOR GOOD REASONS, I TRY TO BE NICE WHEN I CAN BUT IT NEVER FUCKING WORKS. Maybe, sometimes I want to be nice to her. But right now, today, she has upset me and I couldn't give a shit about her.
And if I'm honest, I don't care what you think of me.

Jim or any other mod PLEASE just close this thread now.

tell her you know this nice lad from the internet. *applies mouthspray*

/e: on topic: (ok, the first thing was on topic too, but this is more on topic): if you hate your mum and there is no kind of connection between you I can't see any sense in trying to comfort her or talk to her about it. Just carry on with your life.
