private prescriptions

if you go to a private doctor and they prescribe you some medication, does it go down on your nhs medical record?

    No it doesn't. You also have to pay full price for the medication because it won't be covered by NHS Prescription charges.

    Having said that, you might want to check whether the doctor will write to your GP to say what they have prescribed. Clinically that would be a sound thing to do because your GP needs to be aware in case you suffer any side effects or in case it interracts with any other medication you are currently taking.

    Would suggest that you need to consider this one carefully, but you obviously have reasons for not wanting your GP to know about this...

    That maybe a question to ask the private Doctor or the NHS, to make sure you get the 100% correct answer?

    You could call NHS Direct, on 0845 4647 or access their website, see what they say? Also check it out with the Private Doctor you are seeing.
