Upset cousin- weight talk

I was at my nephews bday party today and I saw one of my cousins there who has lost about 5 stone in the past 12 months. Last time I saw her was in June and she looked sooooo different cos I've always known her to be chubby but she had slimmed right down. She was also looking really slim today.

Anyway she commented that she liked my new hair style and I said thanks and then said how good she is looking and how she must feel so much better for losing all the weight. She said yeh then I asked her if she finds it hard to keep the weight off. She was like yeh and then kept holding her stomach and looked abit put out. About 20 minutes later she asked me if she looked like she was putting the weight back on, I said no and she said do I look the same as I did when you last saw me and I said yeh and that she looks really really good and how well she had done.

It's playing on my mind now as I think she thought I was implying that she was putting weight on again when I asked her if she finds it hard to keep the weight off, but I wasn't what I meant was that lots of people find it hard to keep the weight off once they have lost it! And for all I know she could be living a life of constant diets or she may pile on the pounds and then shed some again. What I should have said is that she still looks amazing and does she struggle to keep her figure so slim and then perhaps she would have got what I was saying. I feel gutted to have made her feel so pants when I think she has done an amazing job. It's hard for me to socialise with people anyway and I NEVER put on any weight (I wish I could) so it makes me feel uncomfortable talking about weight and I find it hard to join in conversation as it is usually about how hard it is to shift weight not to gain it. I hope I haven't upset my cousin :(
