HPV Virus

my partner has told me she has the HPV virus and has developed anal carcinoma linked with this virus. she is in alot of pain and the GP's are undecided how to treat it.
there r 2 things i'd like to know.

1. should she leagally have told me that she had the virus before having sex with me
2. what r the dangers of me developing or suffering ill effects from this virus.

    HPV stands for human papilloma virus (it's a wart virus), and about 50% of sexually active adults in the UK are thought to have come into contact with it at some time.

    It may be linked to cancer of the cervix in some cases. I have not heard of it being harmful to men.
