handbag repair

Hiya quick question... anyone know how to repair handbag straps?? My purple one is about to break :( The straps are leather with a sort of foamy lining and stuffing and it wont hold for long... Safety pins and needle and thread would just split the leather i think. Any suggestions? Seems a shame to chuck out a whole bag just because of the handles...
fanks :)

Wouldn't have a clue how to fix it myself, I'd take it to a shoe repair shop (cobbler?) and see what they say. They have to fix leather things all the time so maybe they'd be able to help :)

Some kind of tailor would be able to fix it. I don't know if there are different kinds... mind you I had no idea a cobbler has existed in the last 100 years :p The man has had leather jackets fixed a couple times by just brining them to a local tailor.
