He was taken to hospital in LA this evening. Apparently he wasn't breathing when paramedics arrived at his home.

    Each news source is reporting the TMZ.com website which reports he has died.

    Not real confirmation, just TMZ.com hedging their bets.

    It was confirmed according to TMZ.com then they said it wasn't.
    It seems like he has died from what I've seen/heard but I'm sure we won't know for sure till at least tomorrow.

    Yeah, for a brief few minutes the LA Times was reporting he was dead. Now they've gone back to the rushed to hospital story. I think TMZ were in a real hurry to break the story, but mainstream media outlets haven't got the nerve without some evidence.

    they haven't confirmed it, but are saying now "he is reported dead" rather than "he has been taken to hospital". i guess it sounds more dramatic.

    Personally I think a bloke who was abused throughout his childhood by his father, and had obvious deep-rooted psychological problems, but wrote some fantastic music deserves a bit of sympathy when he dies. But that's just me.
