I Hate.........

living at home!!

Just finished my first year at uni and have moved back home for the summer and its driving me up the wall! I can't go out when i want without being asked, where are you going, who with, when will you be home?
I have to eat with the rest of the family, not when i want to.

This morning I even had to get up when my FOURTEEN year old sister demanded that i did cos it was 1 o'clock! Fuck off! I will get up when I want!

Also, at uni, its a five minute walk and i'm in town. Here, i have to drive for at least 20 mins before I'm there. :banghead:

Ugh and I have three more months of this til i get to go back and move into my new house, my own private room with a lock on the door, and my own bathroom

Anyone else hate living at home? I just cant wait until i can be independent again!

If you don't share a bedroom with your sister, invest in a lock.

It must be terrible having people care about you enough to want to know where you're going and cook your meals.

I didnt mean it like that, i just love being independent, and being able to do my own thing and now that I'm home again i cant.

Come on, there must be somebody who gets what i mean?

I do completely! I'm graduating soon so am moving home too as I have no job etc. The loss in independance is massive. But there are perks such as getting meals and washing done :D

does your mum know how to wash bedclothes without doing it on a 90 degree wash and shrinking your pillowcases away to nothing? :p

I don't see the big deal. Then again, I only spent a year living on my own before I dropped out of Uni.

    Good:
    - It's shitloads cheaper
    - Meals
    - Laundry
    - Nicer place
    - Cleaner place (most likely!)
    - All my stuff is here (heh)
    - Good to chat to parents about things when things get bad
    - I get on well with everyone

    Bad:
    - Miles away from work (like, 95 of them)
    - Not good for socialising locally, even worse for socialising with work people!
    - Sometimes crowded

I've only been living away for a year as well, and I'm gonna miss my lil room and bathroom and having my friends right next door, rather than half an hour drive away like they are now.

I guess i loved it so much cos I'm so independent and this was the first place that was actually mine, all by myself, instead of having to share it with siblings like when i was growing up *sigh*

Of course i appreciate the free food and free washing as well

I understand where you are coming from and can see how it;s annoying!

But I honestly didn't mind moving back home, my mum and dad never question where I am going so I can just come and go. I don't eat with them and buy my own food so don't have to worry about family meals (though we have never done family meals ever). I don't pay rent and get my washing done which is always a bonus!

I get where other people are coming from but hell, I'm with you Lexi - I love my family but more than a week and I'm pulling out what little hair I've got left.

This is what it's like for me, but for some reason, I do keep asking them if it's ok and have been told I don't need to say that. As long as they know where I am, it doesn't matter.

Hey Lexi, I know your pain. I finished my 1st year of uni in 1999. I went from going out every other night to going out less than every month. The village that I once knew as 'home' quickly became otherwise because my growing-up mates all moved on. Now that I've long-finshed uni, I still enjoy going out once or twice a week and my independance. That village I previously known as 'home' has actually become more homelike. Although my friends are still mostly long-gone, I have my parents there with a lovely done-up house and the village has been turned from deprived status to an extremely pretty village with more facilities. It's still no place for me in the long run as I like the busy nightlife of a large town, but I do like going back to my parents for a few days at a time from time to tim.

What's your reason for being back at home?

If it's because you've nowhere else to go - well, that is proper low. Got up at 1pm by your little sister. LOL reality check sweetheart

Staying at home has its benefits - free food, nice house, a decent bath! But I can't survive more than a few days there without going insane.

im making the dreaded move back home next month as ive finished uni for good.

all my school friends took a gap year, im so jealous there still at uni. Im confident a can pick up a job in the area to keep me busy, but a bit of a culture shock after having all your mates around you at uni.

Thing is it's likely i'll be here a while, all the job oppotunities seem to be in London, so looks like i'll stay here with my family in Watford for a bit , hmm
