Surfing the net at work

I wish our place ... or maybe management ... were more strict in certain cases.

I've been working my arse off the last two weeks (as have colleagues sitting around me) whilst one other has spent most of his time - to quote someone who sits behind him - "doing fuck all" and surfing the internet. This is after having two weeks off to boot, one of which was due to "stress".

I'm a contractor, so I get paid a lot more than the permies, so it's not a case of 'He's being paid to sit around and do nothing' for me, but more a case of him being happy to let everybody else pick up the slack that he should be contributing with, and then have the tenacity to moan when he does get given something to do.

You should mention it to management if he's slacking. But it's not internet usage that's the problem, it's laziness.

We already have. Consistently. But like everything, it's all politics in our place, getting something done at a managerial level is a nightmare.

If he's been off for a while with stress and depression then the work have to be careful as the DDA protects them from unfair dismissal.

Nah, he was off for a week with a headache ... only went to the doctor's on Friday (seriously, if I had a headache for a day I'd be down there first thing) and the doctor diagnosed it as "stress related"

The ridiculous thing is that the guy's workload isn't as heavy as other people's, but he gets incredibly uptight and irate when any additional work comes his way, ignoring the fact that, ya know, he's paid to do it

    [EDIT]
    ooh post 300
