Sweater fuzzies

Is there a way to get rid of sweater fuzzies without a sweater fuzzy remover? I don't dry my shirts so I never get them, hence don't want to buy a remover, but I went to wear one of them yesterday and its a pilly mess.

I take it the razor has to be a sharp/new one? Good idea, thanks! :D
