    But in actual actualness...

I like Ophelia, and Sophie, and Hermione, and Amalia, and Armida, and Maddison and Faye...

I always liked the idea of naming my daughter Twilight, but now that has bad connotations with the awful book and movie franchise so I'm hoping that everything to do with it fades away to obscurity in the next few years so I can happily name my future daughter it without having her suffer horrible associations.

Never name a child after an 18-30's resort in Greece, where I broke a rib and tripped a pretty young thing into a pool when drunk.

Even saying it like how Obama's daughter pronounces it sends shivers down me spine.

I like names that aren't in the top 100.

I like names that are. At least, that were. I dread to think what the top 100 reads like now! All unusual and wrongly-spelt.

I'm not going burden my kids with the curse of perpetually spelling out their name to strangers.

I want to call my daughter(s) something like Sarah or Anna, and then she will be unique in her normalness amid a sea of Lilys and Olivias and Amelias

This is a very good point. My little sisters' school is full of ridiculous names! All the boys have names like Macaulay and the girls are all called Bailey. So you're probably right!
By the time my 15 year old sister's generation get round to it, they will all be called Bella and Edward.

I like boy names better anyway. I'm going to have a Tristan Patrick.

That, or you just don't have many friends that are 5-6 years old.

Well if i have never met a Robyn and im 16, then it must be uncommon if theyre all 5-6 years old.

    Meh.
The point being that it is becoming a popular name. It changes in every age range, really. So when they're 16 they'll be saying that there's loads of Robyns. It's popular in that age brackets.

Its still uncommon if the Robyns are all 5-6 years old as it isnt that long.

Unless you're planning to conceive a 16 year old, it might be an issue you run into.

Troo story: I was doing a night on labour ward and a woman had her 4th baby. She had a girl, already having 1 other girl and 2 boys at home. Bar one letter, the names of her girls are identical as are the names of her boys (so imagine something like Serina and Selina). When I commented on it, she said she did it because it's a lot easier to call 2 names for dinner as opposed to 4 :D

 I have to spell my names out (and have had to correct my father at least twice:rolleyes: ) and it's getting annoying. I also once got asked how I spell my middle name (Rosemary) not sure if there any variations on that, is there?

I like names that mean something in the person's language. Like Dawn, Rain etc. Grace also means something but I personally don't like the way it sounds...

I actually quite like Miley, i'd never really thought about the name before. I wouldn't call my child it though.

I agree with the spelling thing, i like Amy better spelt Amiee but i wouldn't spell it that way because people would always spell it wrong. My parents wanted to call me Christopher if i was a boy, but spelt 'Kristoffer'! Sooo glad i was a girl :yeees:
