any1 know how many points an NVQ level 4 in traing and development holds?

im looking into becoming a teacher, i already work in a secondary sch as a behaviour teaching assitant. i hold NVQ level 4 training and development and need to know how many points if any this qualifies for since this course has now ceased. also can any1 sugguest the best way to go for a degree to get into teaching without giving up my job. ive looked at open uni an it costs around 3700.00 for degree courses. so any ideas?
some one mentioned you may not need a degree, is this true?
