Here's some info from channel 4 as it's the right time of year to apply:
Generation Next is a 10-week placement for up to six people that starts in July each year. This is all about giving people a grounding to kick start their career in the media industry.
Placements can be in a wide range of areas from future media and technology, film, advertising, law and commissioning. You name it.
Our aim here is to uncover and nurture the industry's future talent - and to give total support during these critical early stages. There's a mentor for each placement for example, as well as learning days and career development advice.
Who's it aimed at and what are we looking for?
This is the next step up from the Work Experience Scheme or Inspiration Week. We'll be looking for some kind of grounding in the individual's specialist area - whether they're currently in education or not. This could be in the form of extended work experience or other industry training.
How to apply?
Applications can be made through Channel 4's careers website around March each year. Then there's an assessment day that includes group work, presentations and one-to-one interviews.
Then what?
That's very much down to each individual. But empowered with the knowledge, insights and skills they need to plan their future careers, they'll be perfectly placed to start knocking on doors and getting their name about.
