Young Scot Youth Commission on Alcohol

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Young Scot wants to recruit young people to lead a national Youth Commission on Alcohol. Fifteen young volunteers aged 14-21 are needed to contribute to this internationally innovative approach to taking young people's ideas and opinions seriously.

This is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Scotland to influence the shape of future policy on this key topic in Scotland. If you are interested in making a difference to Scotland's relationship with alcohol and are willing to take part in five Youth Commission meetings and an exciting, but small and manageable, amount of additional investigation work, including expert witness hearings, study visits and consultations. There is a comprehensive programme of training and support with opportunities for accreditation. A specialist independent Advisory Group will also support the Youth Commission.

The closing date for applications to become a Commissioner is 6 April 2009. Applications and further information can be found at www.youngscot.org/yca.

For anyone interested in applying or supporting young people to apply for this opportunity, an information session will take place in Edinburgh on Wednesday 25th March, in the Merchants Hall, 22 Hanover Street Edinburgh, 6-8pm

Please email yac@youngscot.org to confirm your attendance

See http://www.merchantshall.co.uk/location.htm for details of how to get there.
