Breaking a housing contract

Say I wanted to leave before the contract was over...

What's the worse that could happen?

I think I am going to kill myself if I stay around here. I am in the shit financially as well and I need to get away for my health and happiness.

If my hours go down anymore, I won't even be able to afford to pay bills.

    Hi Namaste,

It may depend on what type of contract you have - I guess the worse that can happen is that you have to carry on paying the rent once you leave - hopefully your landlord will agree to let you find someone else to take over your contract so that they aren't out of pocket. There may be some information on here you will find useful.

    Housing contracts

    Tenancy agreements

Otherwise your best bet would be to asktheSite as Shelter can advise you on what your next steps are.

I hope you get it all sorted soon
