comfort food...

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
i feel shit after just being in hospital again, and i've been told to take it easy for the next couple of days

so i've decided to eat...

my apetite is pretty small atm, and i think i need to try and tempt myself so my ultimate comfort food would be:

chicken risotto,
butterscotch angel delight with bananas
sweet potatos and goats cheese
and thai currys...

what be yours? (and if this has been done a hundred times please ignore it)

:yum: I love hot Ribena! Definitely a comfort drink.

I was going to say pizza too. Cheesecake's a good one...also cheese on toast or baked beans on toast...basically anything that makes me feel like a kid again

It would seem I am unusual in the fact I don't have comfort foods. I enjoy food for what it is. I don't use it to make me feel better.

Ohh so do you not have stuff that you crave when your feeling ill though - like chicken soup.

Though obviously not chicken soup as it tastes rank. I was also going to say disprin with sugar and food colouring in it but thoght that probably wasnt' the right answer

you the food colouring? is that something that you used to get when you were a kid? (thats pretty cool actually!)

little bits of apple bread and cheese is what i often do when i'm ill, bit i don't want to go near chopping things right now...and my bread is stale! boo! :(

depends on my mood i guess!

However if i was to pick any thing to eat right now.. it would probably have to bee.. extremely buttery mashed potato. either on its own or with lashings of tomato ketchup :yum:

chocolate is always good when im feeling a bit down, but then i usually end up feeling even worse than before after i have it. so try not to!

Cheesy doritos and salsa. HOT salsa. With a big pint of Irn Bru to wash it down. :yum:

Or a Mortons' roll with Chips which are soggy in vinegar with a dollop of tomato sauce. GOOD GOD. It's safe to say I'm turned on now.

 Nah, it's not a case of I will be thinking about popping out for a posh meal etc (as I won't enjoy the meal if feeling rough!), but I just won't be craving anything. Usually just a case of raiding the cupboards/fridge and throwing something together... or grabbing something from super-market/takeaway that requires the amount effort directly inverse-proportional with how rough I feel. :)

Goulash with bread and bacon dumplings and nice beer... I've got a Czech housemate and I've also lived in the Czech Republic before... how I miss it :(

Lots of cheese is always good.. whether it's cheese on toast, fried cheese or fondue :P

Proper hot chocolate too! And Haagen Daz!!

Haha strangely I eat really healthily most of the time though.
