Sorry to make another thread about buying a book for a friend, but I seem to have the opposite friend to innocent kate, so thought I'd make a new one...
I asked my friend what she'd like for her birthday (30th) and she thought a book would be good. I asked which one, but she said she didn't really mind, she was quite open to new authors. She did say that she doesn't like real stories though, as she finds them depressing, although I wasn't sure whether she means biographies or stories that could be real...
I do know that she reads and enjoys a lot of John Irving, does anyone know any similar authors? Any help would be appreciated!
