Alcohol Concern is researching how to develop support systems for teenagers who drink heavily and would like to hear the views of 16 to 18-year-olds on what kind of help is needed.

The 18 question survey is completely anonymous and will help frame the next phase of research.

The addiction treatment of teenagers is different with adult treatment. It is caused the human brain does not fully develop until age thirty. Alcohol and drug addiction can permanently damage not only the brain but also vital organs of young adults. Because young adults have a special set of problems, they belong in substance abuse treatment specialized for young adults.

It is important to know that some teenagers do develop serious problems in this area which require professional help. Such programs include inpatient treatment, alcohol counseling, twelve step programs, and inpatient units for individuals who have both emotional and substance abuse problems.
