I had this (drunk) conversation with one of my friends mates on saturday night about this. I reckon you can be friends but not best, best friends. Or if you are best, best friends and you think that it's platonic I bet the other has feelings. I'm only speaking from experience I've got a lot of boy mates but whenever I've had boy best friends (more recently one in january) the friendship was destroyed by us getting together a few times and now we never speak.
