I beat up my girlfriend when asleep

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
My girlfriend has told me that i am very hyper when i am sleeping..

I swing my arms around and move my legs a lot.

She has recieved a few bruises from this..

I once hit her in the face when i swung my arm around, however i didn't leave any bruises but she said it hurt quiet a bit!!

Anyone got advice?

Wear a straight jacket when sleeping or get her to give u some so you won't be so hyper... :)

Jesus, you scared the shit out of me when I read that subject..........

Ummm, if you're hyper when you are sleeping then maybe you got too much energy left over from when you are awake ?? I'm sure you could think of some uses for all that excess energy.......:D

Perhaps you aren't sleeping deeply enough? Do you have any other sleeping problems? Have you ever walked in your sleep? Do you feel rested when you wake up in the morning?

I'd suggest seeing a GP and talking about it.... I have no idea what could be causing it. Sorry! :(

i once read an article in a magazine about "sleep sex", where this guy was having sex with his girlfriend whilst actually fast asleep!
the girlfriend at first thought he was being funny and pretending to be asleep and just went along with it but after a few times he started to get violent and actually raped her in his sleep.
i think they went to the doc about it and there was some name for his condition and it had something to do with having too much energy before going to sleep or something...and i think the boyfriend had no idea he was doing it...
very weird! i just thought i would share that....
i dont know if it helps with your problem.
maybe you just arent sleeping deeply enough and maybe you should see your doctor...

Wow, that was in Cosmo a while ago, wasn't it? *has read it too* Try going to sleep in diferent positions or changing the side of the bed you sleep on - sometimes a small change like that can work wonders for your sleeping patterns.

try watching ur diet. in my second year at uni i had nightmares and yelled in my sleep ALL the time. my life was good but i was a bit in love with Muller strawberry yoghurt.... doctor suggested i cut it out, and th enightmares stopped! could be psychsomatic but even then who cares as long as it works eh?

true... i really think that u should consult a specialist on this 'illness'. I read about that article too in Cosmo, this matter should not be taken lightly. ;)

I have never heard of this before.

If I was you I would get some professional help just in case, maybe a doctor of someone like that.

I agree, you need to seek professional help. Until then sleep on the floor. It is irresponsible to stay in the same bed when you know that you are doing this.

Also drop to the floor and kiss her feet for not dumping you like a load of bricks. Make sure to bring chocolate.

i think you need to see a doctor about it and see what they can do. i dont think it is serious i used to grind my teeth (poor example) but just relax when you go to bed!
