Wow, actually makes me ashamed to be from Glasgow, and I don't even like football... :(

For what it's worth, Glasgow ain't all that bad :(

Wasn't it recently described by the UN as the most violent city in the developed world?

Heres an account I've found a couple of other forums which might be of interest:

Sounds fair enough, I don't believe they'd pull the plug because they were worried about Rangers scoring though.

Apart from the fact that they've not been able to hit a cows arse with a banjo in Europe all season (:D), 100,000 happy Rangers fans are immensley preferable to 100,000 pissed up and pissed off Rangers fans surely?

How about Glasgow council pay for the sordid mess lest on the streets of Manchester as some form of apology. It's an idea put forward in the local press.

Since Manchester Council didn't pay for the mess made after United supporters trashed pubs, shops and homes on Paisley Road West after marching up there battering men, women and children in October 2003, I'm sure you'll excuse Glasgow City Council for not footing the bill for Wednesday's clean up.

    Source?

As for the screen being turned off purposley, well, anyone with common sense would choose not to follow such an option. Maybe a scouser was in charge of that an all.

The thing is, Rangers were lucky to get anything at all! Such screenings in the city centre had been outlawed for a while in Manchester, down to violence in the past! (Of course nothing on this level though) But given a chance, and a bit of liberty when it came drink, a few hundred Ranger fans decided to spoil it for everyone else, not least they're own decent supporters, but for the people in Manchester, England and Scotland.

My distaste for wednesdays incidents has subsided a little this morning, as I've just brought tickets to watch the Champions league final along with 7,000 people at the MEN arena! So not all is lost :)

Yeah, a recent report suggested that crime rates were higher than even New York City, which is actually kind of scary.

Knife crime is high as well (topped only by Northern Ireland and Finland, I think (?)).

I think Leeds, Doncaster & Hull in London next weekend could bring all this again.........

Yeh, this sort of thing happens when you let Northerners experience civilisation. :p

    True. With no provocation.

I wouldn't worry about them too much. The way they behave in such situations isn't much better than the yobs to be honest. Anybody close enough to a swinging baton is going to come away with a cracked head, regardless of whether or not they're causing trouble.

    They love it anyway.

Haha, this is true. Most people involved clearly had fun, police and fans.

Amazing night last night, nothing better than seeing agony etched on Ferguson's face after the Dons screwed any hope of Rangers winning the SPL.

    Well done Celtic :)
