Oxford maths prodigy becomes £130/hr whore

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Sufiah Yusof got Grade A A-Levels age 11 and went to Oxford University age 13. Whilst at university she ran away from her abusive Dad, who is now in prison for sexual child abuse. After finishing her PhD age 19 she married a white guy, and became a fundamental Muslim. Today however, she is a prostitute working in Salford for £130/hour. Clients pay her to whisper algebra and maths equations in their ear in between giving them oral.

So? she can do what she likes. just because she was a child prodigy doesn't mean she can't be a prostitute.

Oh and the story is months old!

I've had this conversation with friends many a time, and lots of us can see the appeal of being a high class prostitute/escort.

Good money, pick your own hours, and be your own boss. If it's alright by your own morals, why not?

Meh, i think Prostitution should be legal and taxed and regulated, with laws demanding safety of a sexual health nature. If she is making good money and is good at her job, enjoys doing it or rather has job satisfaction, more power to her! It's not my place to judge or demand she go back to maths is it?

Lol at reciting maths equations in people's ears. The things that turn some people on!

But fairplay cos she's earning a lot more than I am, and possibly even other maths graduates!

I wouldn't be able to do it personally but if you can then why not, as long as you do it safely. I think people are just jealous cause she's earning way more than them :p

I think the fact that she seemingly had a terrible childhood at the hands of an abusive father makes it easy to be cynical and assume that she hasn't come to a reasoned decision that this is the best career option for her. It sounds to me like a typical reaction against her lost childhood. Because let's face it, one of the best mathematical minds the country has produced could be earning far more than a high class hooker, especially in the long run. But she's spent her entire childhood working, so it's not surprising she wants to let her hair down a bit, so to speak. But call me cynical: without the abusive childhood, she wouldn't be doing what she's doing.

Whilst it is of course her choice, I think it's a very sad story. People talk about 'high class escorts' and imply a level of glamour... and to an extent, in some cases there's truth to it, five star hotels, rich businessmen, etc. But lets be clear: even in such cases (which are not the norm) there's a much darker underlying context. And I can't see anything glamourous about someone who's had a difficult childhood selling themselves for £130/hour in a small flat in Salford...

"I've always had a high sex drive?and now I'm getting all the sex I want

well dark and underlying. you mean you cant see why a person would do that just becuase you wouldnt?

why the fuck does anyone care after reading a quote like that :D

as "I'm with stupid" says, i doubt she'd be doing what she does now if she hadn't had an abusive childhood and had lead a vaguely normal life.

I have a friend who is a Cambridge maths graduate who became a prostitute during the summer of her first year at uni and now as a graduate gets paid a thousand pounds a night for her services (and I doubt maths is involved). I don't think it is completely unheard of and I certainly don't think it needs to be attributed to an abusive childhood. As hard as it may be for some people to accept, some women are happy with sleeping with men for money, they are psychologically stable people who have made a free and independent decision. It isn't always about being manipulated or having some deep dark problems from the past haunting them.

As long as she is happy with what she is doing (which she definitely appears to be from that article) and staying safe then good for her and I respect her decision.

I have no problem with the concept of prostitution, but think if you're capable of doing other things you should, and maybe just do prostitution on the side. Because otherwise once you go down that route, you're trapped in it. What if you want to exit after 5 years to try a different career, what the fuck are you going to put on your CV, can't exactly say you were a prostitute, call girl etc. It has no exit opportunities which is why so many of them end up homeless. Do it on the side, particularly through a proper agency, and it should be fine.

I've just watched the video and I can't see any patchy skin or double chin.

But in this case, she did have an abusive childhood. Not only that, but she explicitly stated that having to work hard for so many years contributed to her decision to become an escort. No-one said that's the case for all escorts.

i hope its what she really wants, otherwise thats a shame

But Maladjusted did say she probably wouldn't be doing it if she hadn't had an abusive childhood, so I was just highlighting the fact you can't attribute her decision to that since women in similar circumstances make the same decisions without having had a bad past. Who are we to patronizingly judge that an intelligent woman has only decided to do what she is doing because of any abuse in her past? It works both ways - other child geniuses don't turn to prostitution and neither do people with other awful things in their past, it is in many cases a personal life decision. I guess I just think it is a very complex issue and people are sometimes too quick to judge.

actually i think its comon for a "prodigy" to not want to do what they are best at. I was the only fluent english speker in a shool of 500 but I prefered to not be reminded all the time it was just some thing I could do (ok not as sensational) but I wasn't running english classes and hate to translate even though its effortless being bilingual perhaps because its boring ? being so easy ? not challenging enough ? who knows why she dosn't turn to maths as a carrer is her business

There's people in Salford who can afford that? I think she could have chosen a better area to become a prostitute in, but if it's what she wants to do then that's fair enough...each to their own!

maybe that's why she's only charging £130 an hour?
