Hi everyone, for the past year or so, ever since working in a pub, I have been getting pain in my lower back. I don't have it all the time, and I don't know what triggers it.
Once it got so bad, and I started to get shooting pains that I could hardly walk to I went to the doctors. They examined me and tested my reflexes/looked at my spine and general back health and couldn't find anything obvouis and didn't have any suggetions apart from some simple head excersises, and refered me to a physio.
By the time I got the referel I hadn't had the pain badly for a couple of months, so I never booked a appointment. But recently, I am getting it quite a lot, though never the shooting pains I used to get when I worked in the pub - I think that was from lifting and carrying the trays full of glasses.
It might just be a case of bad posture, though I'm a trained singer, so I would hope that I know a bit about the correct posture.
What I'd love is if anyone has any suggestions on what I could do to releave the pain which I've had constantly for a week now, - the longest yet. Maybe in the form of excersises? I'm reluctant to just take pain killers.
I'm starting to feel like an old woman!!!

Can't think about any other suggestion, and I hope everything will be fine :-)
Because from experience, I can say that 'flat feet' or 'fallen arches' often cause back pain and can be easily corrected with Orthotics for your shoes.
I don't think it should be viewed as a last resort at all! You could have something very simple, but possibly with serious consequences wrong. Best get it checked by a specialist and catch anything early before it develops.
A year is also a reasonably long amount of time.
Catch a problem early and you can limit the damage.
I agree to the above quote. Your problem might simply be the shoes that you are wearing. Are your shoes have hard insole in them? Just adding something like Dr. Sholl's working insoles would probably do the trick. In your job you probably do a lot of standing and walking, so comfortable shoes are important.
I had a similar problem at my work. I had sharp pain coming from my lower back. I later found out that my posture was poor, caused by the work boots that I wore. I added those insoles and after a few days the pain went away. I hope that helps. :crazyeyes
