Heard about this at work last night when I was leaving, seriously. Fucking shocking, same age as my dad.

I first heard about this on News at Ten last night. It's very rarely that I bat an eyelid at most stories, but when I heard that he'd died, I must admit I was stunned. I had no idea he'd been ill for some time. I think he'll be remembered partly for his charity work (according to today's newspapers, he raised around £100m for charity in his lifetime) and for the new formats that he brought to television. Nowadays, we all know about "user-generated content" - the media name that's given to footage which appears on websites such as YouTube. However, he was the first person to bring that format to TV. When You've Been Framed first came about, nothing of the kind had ever been done before. Now, everyone seems to be filming themselves!

One of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV was an edition of Beadle's About, when he managed to convince a Dorset-based housewife that aliens existed and were living in her back garden. When I first saw it, me and the rest of the family were all in absolute stitches. I saw it again recently on Sky. My dad and me both laughed our heads off once more. I could watch some of those shows a million times and still laugh.

His death is a huge loss. My condolences go out to his family and friends at this very difficult time.

Let's face it - you're unlikely to see the headline "famous comedian who raised £100m for charity in lifetime passes away" in the Daily Telegraph, never mind The Sun.

Jeremy Beadle had requested his ashes to be spread over a vegetable patch when he died. You better watch out, Beadle's a sprout. :yeees:
