They live in cheap shitty housing with no central heating and mice running around. They walk to work/uni/shops. They don't smoke or drink. They don't go out much, if ever. They don't go on holiday. That's how.

around that i think, im not 100% sure cos it doesnt apply to me.

but if so there is something wrong, you need to have a word with your employer.

    unless he/she means after tax.

If I get 9k after tax here's how it works out

3780 - rent and council tax

    1300 - (25 per week) groceries

    600 - car insurance

    1040 - 20 a week petrol

500 - electricity, gas and water

250 - home insurance, virgin tv and internet

180 - mobile phone (15 per month, don't go over)

    = 7650 outgoings a year

leaving me 1350 spending money a year. Thats 26 a week. For everything else, clothes, nights out, anything else. Its fuckin depressing!! I had to get my car serviced in December, cost 90. Thats a months spending money - gone. What can ya do :(

ETA - that wasn't just a moan! I was just answering the question of how do people live on the minimum wage - its difficult
