Renting a flat in somebody else's name

Ok, so I'm looking at renting a two bedroom flat with my mate.

Thing is, I'll fail a credit check and if I can avoid the whole getting a guarantor thing then that'd be ideal.

So could he rent it as a two bedroom flat for himself in his name and I give him my half of the rent every month? I suppose we could pretend we're a couple or something but that's last ditch.

Do agencies and landlords get funny about that sort of thing i.e if they did an inspection and my stuff was in the spare room would they evict us?

Cheers :thumb:

Some letting agents might get funny as its usually against the terms of the tenancy to sub-let. You should also think carefully about it as you're unlikely to have any legal rights if you do start this arrangement. Certainly in England you wouldn't have any.

Your best bet would be to do it properly with a guarantor.
