Just something that popped into my head. When football clubs pay for Policing for the games do they pay the police force themselves or the local authority or do the officers who are selected to go to the game get paid separately for doing so ?

Just curious :)

They pay the police force and the police roster in coppers as part of their normal duties.

The police force can charge what it wants, which is why Everton (in Merseyside) pay about £50,000 a year for their policing but Wigan (in Manchester) have to pay four times that for theirs.

Bit late but thanks for the replies. That answers that question. Always wondered about it and how that side of thing's worked.
