i have a question for everyone. why is it as soon as you become a student you become a lazy layabout who doesnt do much except eat sleep and drink.

since starting college in september me and my friends have all turned into these mutants who do nothing why is this?

its really annoying me now but i still cant be bothered to do anything about it.

p.s hope i aint offended anyone

    Ditto.

I would have considered my-self quite a high achiever before, but since uni, it's gone down the pan, what a waste.

I'm trying to change though...honest...I am.

You don't have to be lazy. You could volunteer your time to help others, I do. I go into a school and help kids to read and take a local boy with autism out. You could do loads of stuff.

i reckon that its just way too much time on our hands. i've never had so much free time so i'm taking advantage before i have to join the real world

It seems to be true for most students, especially one of my flatmates (who shall remain nameless). The other flatmate spends much of his time in the gym. As for me, I'm not as lazy as many others. In fact I'm quite pro-active, getting involved in student activities and societies. Most of the people on my course hardly ever set foot inside the studen't union. I'm involves with the drama society, the student newspaper and the student mafia, er I mean Conservative Future.

I'd love to get involved more with student life but i have lectures late most evenings ie til 9. I spend most weekends at uni in the computer rooms doing coursework or spreadsheets and when finally i have a minute to myself i find that i am either asleep in 30 seconds or yapping with my flat mates. The most energy i ever have is used on dragging myself to my local, the odd nite clubbing and cooking to stay alive.

However i have noticed that when i go home i have plenty of energy 4 clubbing and other energetic activities

Is it something about uni that means we require twice as much sleep and alcohol to get us thhrough life? Answer on a postcard to........

    *finds she has nodded off*

Yeah the mundane things of life take ages, especially when you have unhygenic, lazy flat mates like I do and spend ages cleaning up their mess!

9pm!!!! that's terrible! . our lecture slots run from 9.00am - 6.00pm and i think that's a bit excessive. do you really have so many lectures that they have to put them so late? mind you, there is talk of starting saturday morning lectures here - no thanks!

Actually, I find that though I spend time sleeping (but no longer drinking, ugh!), I do as much work as I did in before... I just do it all at the last minute.. so rather than put in 24 hrs over 3 or 4 days, i'll do it the 24 hrs right before my tutorial.

But I actually haven't been doing work lately, mainly because I did tonnes last term (hid in my room and just worked), and I'm just sick of it now. I need a break!

It's fantastic to take 4 days off when you have 2 essays due in one week.. it's an adrenaline rush actually, a natural high.

    Or that's my excuse.

In that case I apologise, perhaps you should have introduced yourself to the other users first, then we'd realise you weren't spam. As for the site you were plugging, I haven't heard of them and we don't endorse sites that aren't free to use.
If you play nice, your posts will stay in tact.

whats wrong with lazing about? u'll no doubt moan in years to come when ur working 9 till 5 with no spare time exept at the very short weekends. enjoy being a student while u can - it goes all too quickly.
i for instance am half way through my uni career and am seriously considering doing another degree after just so i can laze around, sorry - i mean do lots more work.

i know what you mean. I live with an extremely lazy housemate. He misses loads of lectures and then moans that he can't do the work. We have an assignment to give in, in 2 weeks. He's already said that we are going to work together....but NO WAY. ok i don't really know what to do, but I'm not going to share my ideas with him. I don't mind helping someone who attends classes and is genuinely stuck, but i can't be bothered with a waster!

Personally I would love to go clubbing loads more, but got too much work and a £700 overdraft!

I'm applying to do a PhD after I graduate, and apparently it's not uncommon for postgrads to vanish for weeks at a time, just to get away from work...
