Mock exams!!

my mock exams started on the 4th and I got some of my results today... I got an A in chemistry, which is quite good BUT I got a C over all for science! my parents are going to kill me, they're really strict! I got a B+ in art and they weren't even happy with that... how am I meant to tell them about my science mark?!
I go to an all girls school at the moment. The sheikh (the ruler) of Dubai owns it and it's where all the rich arab girls go... it's a really good school up to GCSE level, but I'm really fed up with it now, so I wanted to move to this other school. They told me that I need all As in the subjects I want to take for my A-levels. Well, I got a C for physics, so now everything's going to go wrong! I feel like I'm living a nightmare and I want to wake up. I keep closing my eyes and then opening them again, hoping that I wake up in bed. I'd rather die than tell my parents my marks and go through what my brother went through! My mobile will be taken away and I won't be allowed to go horse riding... Instead, I'll be made to sit at the dining room table and revise all day! What am I meant to do?

Try not to worry about it! I think you should just tell them what you got, get it over and done with. You did better than I did in my Science! I got a D overall.

Well I am at the same stage as you. So I have my GCSEs to come soon unfortunately. I hope I can improve my Science grade to a C!

hey, i've also just done my GCSE mocks and i've done pretty well in mine, n e way, talk to your parents and tell them that u've tried your best, etc, and tell them that your under loads of pressure. Anyway a C is still a pass, and you are meant to move up a grade anyway in the real thing- so you'll be lokking at least a B which is really good

Anyway, good luck

i think u need to stand up 2 ur parents, ur 16, u cant let them control u forever.

if u just say well i revised hard and did my best and i got a C, what else can they ask of you???

lots of peoples parents would be over the moon if they got a C.

Bear in mind a couple of things; firstly that even if some people are over the moon with a C if you know you can do a lot better its an awful feeling. Secondly, they're only mocks! They'll probably be marked harshly by the school to shake you up a bit, and the best thing about them is that you can go through them afterwards and find out what you did wrong, and correct them. This is one of the best ways to revise, I find... Good luck and don't worry.

Don't panic! The point of mock exams aren't to trick you but to show up your weaknesses and allow you to prepare better for the real thing.
Explain this to your parents, say you understand which areas you have been struggling with and agree that you will work at them. If they see you are being mature and level-headed about it, they are less likely to get mad.
Good Luck

Thanx for all the advise!

so far my parents know...
Maths - A
IT - A* and C (C overall)
French - A
Arabic - A*, A, and fail (lol) - C overall
Chemistry - A
Art - B+

And they don't know...
Physics - C
Biology - D
History - C (I went through the paper with my teacher and she said that in the place where she gave me 0 out of 8, she was just trying to get my attention. She said that the examiner would have given me atleast 5 marks for the question)

I knew all the answers in the physics exam and could have easily got full marks, but I don't trust myself when I know I have to do well. I guess I just have to work on my confindence. I know what the exams will be like now though, so hopefully I'll get all A*s in my actual GCSEs

I don't mean to be horrible, but as long as you get 5 GCSE's at A-C, they really don't matter. When you go for a job, no one cares whether you got a B or an A* at GCSE. You just need Maths and English for most things. People make such a fuss over GCSE's, when all they are is a stepping stone to college.

I went to an all girls grammar school which was a very pressured atmosphere, you were considered a failure if you got a B. It made me sick!

My school is very academic and Im not at all. Its really annoying! They expect you to get all A*s and As. I will be lucky if I get one A or A*. Its really tough becase the teachers every lesson say you will all get As and Im sitting there laughing to myself thinking, well I wont.

I can't remember what I got in my GCSE mocks. I remember I got an A in Chemistry bizarrely, and C in Biology and Physics, and I got a D in English. In my real GCSEs I got AA in Science, and a B in English.
Mocks aren't too important really, don't let your parents get you down.
My mum says she doesn't care what I get in my A-levels really. I'm hoping to get something like ABC, but only for myself.

mock exams are exactly that: fake.
the best thing to do imo is just to try and think of them as a way of giving you feedback for what you need to concentrate on... in the build up for the real thing.
