    Star Wars (Episodes 4,5,6)

All the Star Wars movies created a whole new Universe for us to explore and these original movies were ground breaking in effects and with an idea that was totally new. Absolutely amazing, un-beatable.

    Undecided, so I'll say two.

    Title: Bicentennial Man
Reason: Because I (used to?) identify with the main character, who isn't human but wants to be, and realises being human is more than just biology and intelligence.

    Title: Dogma
Reason: Because it has action, it has humour, and it raises some excellent questions and expresses some excellent ideas about religion and life in general.

    Taxi Driver

Because most films are essentially a character study that reveals something about the wider society that we live in, and nothing does it better than Taxi Driver. And from a filmmaking perspective, it's extremely inventive, and every aspect of it is just so perfectly put together.

It's hard to pick just one though. I also love Chungking Express for similar reasons.

Which was your favourite story in Chungking Express?
I think I preferred the one where that girl kept going into his apartment and tidying his stuff.
Wong Kar Wai is definately a quality director.

Hmm, hard to say which one, but I quite like relatively realistic war movies, so:
    title: Black hawk down
why: Showed realistic battle scenes in a dense city environment, far from the complete BS of "one man army" movies such as Delta force among others.

    Sexual tension? :p

Well, I don't know, but in RL it would be one of those "get a room" comments from me anyway :p

Are you serious? I'm not looking into hurt anyone here, but there must be some space for humour sometimes
Btw, I made my selection of movie in this post

just annoying if threads arent allowed to develop on their own.
Threads that could be interesting can be ruined by one person keep trying to control it even if they did start the thread.
I can understand if its gone WAY off on a tangent trying to bring it back, but apart from that.
    sheesh

    dmdsexgod, get a grip man!
We were naming our 'best film movie of all time' and then writing why we think so, just as you asked. It only started going off topic when you went all Nazi on us.
Oh, and please get a sense of humour! Stop being so sensitive mate.

dmd, stop being so unpleasant in your posts - if you want to know people's best movies just ask - you don't have any right to tell people exactly how to post. At this rate you'll be banned as a troll deliberately trying to wind people up.

How about reading sopme other posts here before acting like you have a right to control everyone else's expression?

Actually fuck it - given the serial killer posts and now this I can't justify you as anything other than a troll - so goodbye.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Regardless of the serial killer fantasy loving toasting I'd say the best film is because of it's character study, excitment and incredible filming - the Seven Samurai (sorry was that the wrong way around?)

Urgh I can never answer this question ! I would say Mean Girls or Bring It On but I know they aren't really the best films ever made I just love them anyway ..

I'm going to be a geek and say Lord of The Rings.
The scenery is amazing and the soundtrack matches really well with whats going on and sets the mood for the film. The acting is quite poor and irratating from some actors but I don't think the reason the films are so good is because of the acting. I just generally love the films and Aaragon he's gorgeous !

Through a Glass Darkly, or The Deer Hunter, or Grease 2.

    I'm kidding...

    about The Deer Hunter
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
American Werewolf in London is my fave film.
Love the story line, the humour, the special effects and the soundtrack.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
The Deer Hunter does have the best score to any film though - the music as Michael watches his welcome home party end from the hill - incredible.

    title: The Empire Strikes Back
reason: Mainly because the bad guys win, which is *still* pretty rare for a successful movie. it sets up Return of the Jedi perfectly as well. and the Hoth scenes are great.
