measuring jeans

Theres a pair of jeans I want on ebay. However, the store doesn't have that style anymore and its the kind of store where every single different style manages to have totally different sizes :\ So going to the store and trying anything on would be pretty useless. So I've got the measurements for them, but where in the world do the measurements actually come from? Its for the waist. Is it right where the top of the jeans are, around the belt loop area? Do you think measuring my other jeans in that same area would give me a decent idea if they would be the right size?

I had a really quick search via Google and came up with this site that explains how to measure yourself.

The waist measuremant is your natural waist, which is generally the narrowest bit of your body between your hips and ribcage, about in line with your navel.

But they are lower rise jeans (and I'm not a grandma yet) so hopefully I'm not going to be wearing them that close to my bra ;)

Thanks for the site anyway, though. I tried to measure other jeans I owned but they all had completly different sizes, but I bought them anyway, so well see :p
