Virus protection for Mac

I've heard that virus protection isn't necessary for Macs, as most viruses are written for Windows... but if you were connected to internet on a large resisential network, would you still use it anyway?

I wouldn't bother no. But even though you're unlikely to get a virus, it's still wise to make sure your machine isn't sharing personal files to nosey people sharing the network.
