I know its like 99.9% obvious that he was, and I may be being stupid not seeing it, but I don't see where it says the attacker was drunk?

Could he not have been on anything else? Or just been a bit of a psycho?

I agree totally that alcohol is the biggest problem drug by the way... I just don't see a direct link in this story.

A fair point, although someone who is pissing in a corner of a nightclub is quite likely to be very drunk.

i know this sounds dumb but its only just really dawned on me that you can die from alcohol !!!!

so i could go out tonight and if i get even more hammered than normal i could actually die !! how scary is that ?!

Women and lighter people don't absorb alcohol as well so it'll be lower for them. I've drank some crazy amounts of alcohol like but I'm still here thank fuck!

3. A single dose of alcohol, if large enough, can be lethal.

A blood alcohol level of about 300-400 mg per 100 ml will usually cause loss of consciousness. However, highly tolerant individuals may show only moderate drunkeness at 400 mg per 100 ml, the normal LD50.

Death by alcohol usually results from respiratory failure, because of alcohol's depressive effect on the respiratory centre. Alcohol, then, is a rather toxic substance with the lethal dose uncomfortably close to the usual social dose. Hence the expression "dead drunk".

Fortunately, alcohol has a built-in safety feature: we either vomit or pass out before we have a chance to kill ourselves. The trick is not to do the two things simultaneously, otherwise you risk doing the rock star thing of choking on your own vomit.

That's actually quite scary because I've drank lots more than that over the course of a day/night/morning loads of times.

There was one night when i drank a ridicolous amount of alochol, amongst taking other things. I have very little memory of what happened, but i do remember the hangover that lasted about a week lol. Really though i should have been dead. I guess its not just the dose of alochol though, but also the really stupid risks people take when they are drunk.
