    The sentences are governed by the law, and the law is harsh, but it was always meant to be harsh.

    The jury convicted because they had to on the facts of the case- capturing them on camera shouting about how we should all be bombed is fairly conclusive. The law may be wrong (I don't think it is, though), but the convictions are sound.

    As for the Burnley trials, that's something different, and the evidence wasn't there to convict.

    Something somewhere is very wrong within the system when someone who wishes for somebody to bomb people gets six years, and somebody who actually stores shocking amount of explosives and speaks of imminent 'civil wars' walks free.

    We have no way of knowing for sure of course, but forgive me for believing that if the BNP extremists had been the ones calling for the bombing or killing of others and Muslim extremists had been the ones in possession of all those explosives the latter would have not walked free, and the former would have got a rather lighter sentence.
