Foreign Currency - Does this type still exist?

I found Bank of Israel notes in one of my drawers (god knows how they got there, I don't know anyone who has been there)
Anyway, I have around 12,500 worth and when I converted in using a currency converter it says that it was worth around £1,400.
I just wanted to check if anyone could tell me if Israel changed it's currency or am I actually sitting on nearly a grand and a half?

The notes don't even say anything. Like "Sterling" "Dollar" etc. They just say Bank of Israel
Depends on whether they are Lira or NIS (New Israeli Shekel) - Lira is the old currency, but so old that I don't even remember it, not even sure it existed in my lifetime).
