does anyone know of any serious reprocussions following section 3 detention under the mental health act 1983.

for example, is one precluded from employment in public office or in the army. i presume teaching children is out of the question also.

will lenders judge detention in this way acceptable to grant a mortgage.

am i allowed to travel and live in america permanently?

any other reprecussions that ppl here have experienced?

thanks,
alex

It might prevent you holding a public office, and especially a job like the armed forces or police where pyschological testing is carried out before you join.
As for other jobs, depends on the job i suppose.

btw, this is just speculation, you'd have to ask the various employers.
