    sprinkled on the bread dough before baking would be my answer, but I have no idea what you call the stuff those buns come from :p

    I think they wash the top of the bread in egg white and then throw the seeds on..but dunno..

    They glue them on. Some unlucky sole has the job of sticking them on individually.

    When i worked at Sainsburys, i sometimes made baguettes and french sticks with seeds on and you just literally roll the dough in a tray of seeds. By the time its been in the prover(to rise the dough) and then baked, theyre well stuck on!
